This is one thing I’m looking into because we’re a wee bit worried about it ourselves. It solves the time problem - of course you still have to pay for what you do buy, but you don’t have to pay for it all up front or all at once.
Another thing I’m doing since I have 2 little girls - one who will be 3 in February and one who is 9 months old is “hand-me-down” doll clothing.
My 2 year old loves dolls and already has several that she loves dearly - oh little girls and their dolls - the memories! Well lately, Lili loves dressing these dolls - So she’ll go into my baby’s drawers and get her clothing. The procrastinator in me still has clothes in there that Alissa has outgrown. So in the next week or so, I’m going to go through and do clean outs. I’m going to throw some clothes away that I’ve been meaning to, keep the clothing that still fits in there, go to my boxes and get bigger clothes - up to 18 months etc.
And - because I’m the brilliant mom - on - a -budget that I am, I’m going to wash all these clothes then put them aside. I’m going to get Lili a dollhouse and put some of Alissa’s outgrown clothes in there and then Lili can have “new clothes” for her dolls - and its also time for me to buy both girls new bath towels.
The rest, I haven’t figured out yet. I also have to Christmas shop for a teenager whose done a lot of growing up even since last Christmas and so have his tastes, his clothing size, he’s just grown so much! And I want to send something to my son in California but the only thing he lets me know he likes is World of Warcraft which we’re dead set against in this house - but I have no control over what he has there in California, in fact I have no control over anything there as I’m all too painfully reminded of constantly. My idea for exclusive Einer family Christmas greeting cards would be a great gift for him on a budget too. He’s not about all the cool stuff money can buy and his father doesn’t get that about him. I raised him right before his dad took him to California - we miss him!
So we’re doing Christmas on a budget. That’s okay. But I’m also designing our own Christmas cards and sending them to family which is awesome because there’s a bit of extra publicity for them - I’ve got some new cards up by the way - check them out here.
If you have any ideas on How To Do Christmas On A Budget - feel free to share!
